Indonesia’s November Coal Exports Rise 6.1%, Trade Ministry Says

Indonesia, the world’s biggest exporter of thermal coal, increased exports in November, according to data released by the Ministry of Trade.

Indonesia (IHBAHBA) shipped 29.6 million metric tons of coal for the month, 6.1 percent more than October’s exports, data released today showed. It shipped 23.2 million tons in November 2010.

Indonesia’s coal exports for power stations in the first 11 months of 2011 rose 13 percent to 283.7 million tons, the trade ministry reported. It didn’t offer an explanation for the increase in exports nor identify buyers. The figures, which come from surveyors’ reports before shipment, are subject to change.
